Medidata launches new app to aid patients in clinical trials

Trial tech firm Medidata launched a new app designed to give patients participating in remote clinical trials an easier experience.

The app, dubbed myMedidata, provides trial participants a single login for all their remote trial activities and features “an initial focus on eCOA (electronic clinical outcome assessments)," the company said in a Dec. 6 press release. It is available on iOS and Android platforms and can be used either with a patient’s own device or one that is provided to them as part of the trial.

“Our latest addition to myMedidata brings an innovative app to patients designed in concert with our patient insights team, customer feedback, and the experiences derived from running the world’s biggest DCTs over the last twenty years,” Matt Noble, senior vice president, Medidata Patient Cloud, said in the release.

The app uses the Medidata Designer tool, which allows sponsors and CRO partners to build a patient experience through intuitive drag-and-drop screen templates and visual workflow tools. It lets them build a clinical database without the need for any custom code, which helps reduce study build times by employing Medidata and client libraries, including prebuilt eCOA instruments, translations and study configurations.

The Dassault Systèmes-owned trial software systems developer said in June that clinical trials are producing more data than ever and researchers need systems capable of recording, storing and managing the additional information. The comments coincided with the company’s launch of enhancements to its monitoring and study management platforms it says will help sponsors and CROs handle those larger data volumes.
