Trial software firm Medable has partnered with medical device developer Withings Health Solutions in a move intended to boost its decentralized study business.
The deal—financial terms of which were not disclosed—will see Medable integrate Withings’ at-home data capture technologies into its clinical trials software platform. Medable CEO Michelle Longmire, M.D., said the partnership would help the firm reach patients and further expand its remote clinical trials business.
This view was echoed by Antoine Robiliard, vice president of health solutions at Withings, who said that Medable shares the company's focus on improving how trials are run and the patient experience. Robiliard predicted that the two companies can "increase operational efficiencies and enhance the patient experience in clinical trials.”
Withings’ current device portfolio includes connected scales, blood pressure monitors, an advanced sleep system, a smart temporal thermometer and hybrid smartwatches.
The firm, a division of “connected health” company Withings, has had a busy few months of dealmaking. In March, it teamed up with weight-loss focused metabolic health company Calibrate (PDF) and in June signed a deal with electronic health records operation AthenaHealth (PDF).
Medable has also been forging alliances. In February, it teamed up with CVS Health to access and engage around clinical trials at select MinuteClinics.
On the same day, Medable announced the acquisition of Leo Innovation’s Denmark-based Omhu, which develops skin-tracking apps that let patients submit photographs for assessment by dermatologists.
