Catalyst Clinical acquires Genpro Research to expand global presence

North Carolina-based Catalyst Clinical Research has acquired CRO Genpro Research in a deal that expands the company’s global footprint.

With the acquisition, Catalyst picks up Massachusett’s-based Genpro’s sites and staff in the U.S., India and Ireland. Genpro is known for its experience in biometrics, medical writing, real-world evidence and AI-enabled automation product development.

Although financial terms of the sale weren’t disclosed, the company said in a July 20 press release that Genpro’s chief executive, Sachin Marulkar, M.D., and its management team will remain to run the operation.

The Catalyst/Genpro deal is one of many in recent months as the CRO industry appears to be in the midst of consolidation. In July alone, NAMSA, Alcanza and Signant Health all announced acquisitions. Additionally, Labcorp’s CRO spinoff Fortrea launched over the Independence Day weekend.
